Legalization is coming — but who decides what it looks like?
Florida voters gave 56% support to the 2024 adult-use cannabis amendment. That wasn’t enough to pass — but it sent a clear message. The issue is moving forward, and now, the fight is over how it will be framed and controlled.
Why This Matters
As the 2026 ballot approaches, large corporate interests are positioning themselves to dominate the cannabis market. The current initiative — backed by Smart & Safe Florida — has already collected over 377,000 signatures. But behind the language of “freedom” and “access” lies a narrow gateway that locks smaller players and alternative brands out of the future market.
